This paper gives an overview of Stein's Phenomenology of the body as presented in On the Problem of Empathy, while situating it in the context of intersubjective constitution as outlined in the later work Philosophy of Psychology and the Humanities. It is argued that Stein's descriptive phenomenology, conjugated as it is by her understanding of social construction (intersubjective constitution) makes her stand out among phenomenologists and makes her perspective particularly relevant to contemporary thought.
