The first ‘All Ireland Social Work Research Conference’ hosted by a Consortium of all Schools of Social Work on the Island of Ireland in collaboration with the IASW and BASW-NI, show-cased the high-quality social work research that is being carried out each year in Ireland. Over 50 presentations were delivered by social work practitioners and students at the one-day event (copies of the presentations are available at: https://www.iasw.ie/events/135-fully-booked-all-ireland-social-work-research-conference). Awards for excellence in social work research were awarded to four presenters. The organising committee; Niamh Flanagan (MU), Sarah Donnelly (UCD), Kerry Cuskelly (Practitioner) and Eavan Brady (TCD) managed the event, coordinating input from consortium partners – MU, UCD, TCD, UCC, NUIG, ITSligo, UU, Queens, IASW and BASW-NI - and managed teams of Room Managers from the student body in MU and TCD.
A special edition of the Irish Social Worker Journal including articles by award winners and high-scoring presentations is being edited by Majella Hickey (IASW) and Niamh Flanagan (MU) for publication in Winter 2019.
