Abstract

n early 2021, it was widely reported in the media that the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation or Gulf Stream System is at its weakest in 1000 years. Should we be worried? There are disagreements between reconstructions, direct observations, and model simulations of the Gulf Stream System. In this paper, we consider these contradictions, agreements, and challenges.
